CBNS CI and Node Leader Professor Justin Gooding has won the prestigious UNSW Enterprise Award for Engagement for his Sun Patch, Sun Exposure Sensor. The invention uses innovative technologies to create cheap, easy-to-use and printable sun exposure sensor stickers. Those stickers indicate to the wearer when they go out of the sun or if they should apply more sunscreen. The ink on the patches can be adjusted depending on the wearer’s own sensitivity to the sun’s UV radiation. By using off-the-shelf components and existing technologies, the invention has the potential to be widely deployed, maximising the benefit to society.
Congratulations to Professor Gooding!
