CBNS Distinguished Research Award
Grants and Awards | April 16, 2021

The CBNS Distinguished Research Award honours research outcomes that developed over the Centre’s lifespan and resulted in significant outputs.

We are delighted to announce the CBNS Distinguished Research Award winner was UNSW’s CI Associate Professor John McGhee with his project VR Journey To the Centre of the Cell (JTCC) – Visualising bio-imaging and data in 3D virtual reality; Signature Project (Phase 1 and Phase 2).

The judges had the difficult task of choosing from a very competitive field of excellent researchers but they agreed that Associate Professor McGhee had defined a new interactive interphase between immersive VR and science over the past seven years. The high calibre of applications reflects the excellent research and achievements that have been accomplished over the lifetime of the Centre.
