Outreach | August 7, 2018

On July 28, CBNS opened it’s doors to the public during the 2018 Open House Melbourne. The event was a huge success with almost 100 guests visiting the Centre and MIPS’ Drug Discovery Biology facility.

Guests were able to discover the history behind one of Melbourne’s oldest education and research establishments, which began its journey in 1881 as the Victorian College of Pharmacy. The tour provided an insight into the future of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical practice/education in Victoria, presented teaching facilities for educating Pharmacy students as well as latest research facilities and technologies available for performing world-class pharmaceutical research.

During the tour, the guests also took a “Journey Inside a Human Cell” – an immersive virtual reality experience of science and visited the robot automated drug screen/imaging facility where they experienced augmented reality and 3D printing for medical sciences.
