Ayaat has joined the CBNS as a research assistant for Dr Kristian Kempe and is now a PhD student. Ayaat was born in Iowa, in the United States, but grew up in Egypt. She has completed a Master’s by research in biotechnology with focus on nanomedicine from the American University in Cairo. The research project took place in Boston, through a joint project between Harvard Medical School and MIT.
Ayaat’s main area of research interest is nanomedicine and nanomaterials for diagnosis, detection and treatment of diseases. She also has an interest in polymer synthesis and its functionalisation with biologically active glycomonomers, amino acids and nucleotide bases for clinical purposes.
