Demonstrating the isolation of single cells from biological fluids

Project Summary

This interdisciplinary project aims to provide the first tools for the capture and release on single rare cells, such as circulating tumour cells, from complex samples.

Such a strategy is vital for understanding cell heterogeneity in rare cells, an enduring challenge, and has relevance in understanding resistance of cancers to therapy, understanding the heterogeneity in uptake of nanoparticle drug delivery vehicles and in the detection and treatment of the spread of cancer.
